Knights of Castle Cary offer you academic hoods and gowns, ideally suited to teachers who require traditional academic dress for speech day, founder's day, church services and the like, and who want an economical alternative to the gowns supplied by the 'official' gownmakers for British universities.

Please be assured that our gowns are not the shiny, flaccid,  gowns with a (sic) "zipper"sold to American students and supplied from some overseas websites that UK search-engines turn up.

Our gowns are made in black and are pleated round a stiffened yoke to produce a garment traditional in appearance. These gowns are posted individually boxed - ideal for storage and ready to wear. Our gowns are in 3 qualities - the really excellent Camelot, our nicely detailed Woodforde and the amazingly reasonable standard - see next page for details!

We now also offer navy gowns.

New!  Cotton choir or prefect gowns..  or indeed a really economical graduation-style gown. These look fresh and hang nicely and are ideal for a procession or situation like a choir or orchestra where a uniformity of appearance is desirable.They are available individually but bought 5 at a time or more the price is less than £20 each making them ideal also for theatrical productions or..  dare we admit it..fancy dress!

Our hoods are of the time-honoured 'burgon' style, twin or triple coloured and again made from polycotton, cotton or synthetcis - they come boxed and are easy to store, and should require little or no laundering. These hoods hang elegantly across the back and over each shoulder showing elements of both the 'exterior' and 'interior' colours of the hood.

A knights of Castle Cary hood and gown represents an excellent career investment at a modest cost.
